Off-Topic: Top 10 Bands Of The Election Season

November 16, 2008 by Ron Shevlin

The results from Swillboard are in, and I’m pleased to present the top 10 bands (or musicians) from this election season:

10. The Clash
9. The Obamas and The Papas
8. Dire Straits
7. Bad Company
6. John McColtrane
5. Negativland
4. Barack Sabbath
3. New Order
2. Rage Against The McCain

And the number one band of the election season……

1. Blind Faith

The top songs, in case you were wondering, were Jimi Hendrix’ “Hey Joe (Biden)” and Procol Harum’s “Whiter Shade of Palin.”

Though they only had one good album, I’m surprised “Bush” didn’t make the list.

@Matt (what happened to CU Warrior?): Bush was neither seen nor heard from this election season, hence their exclusion from this list.

Hmmmm…he wasn’t seen or heard from, but I’m quite certain his name was brought up in nearly every single speech of the winning campaign.

@CU Warrior: I thought the band Bush was a …. band. Why do you refer to them as “he”?

p.s. Did you notice that many of the bands that didn’t make this list, have often recorded w/ Bush in the past? Freaky coincidence, no?

It was a one man band. Sort of how the Ben Folds Five was actually only 3 people. Bush is actually just Gavin Rossdale and a couple empty suits. Sorry for the confusion. :)

“Obama and Pappas”? This is why we need to bring back the Gong Show . . . for blogs!
