Ron - title for your book: "A Friend of the Devil - A Deadhead's Musings from the Corporate Underground." I know your next gig will be a great one. Hey, maybe with some time-off we can expect more blogging from you! :)
Picking up on Roger Conant's comment about telling the advocacy story - I have this url, projectADVOCACY.org, - been trying to figure out what to do with it - any thoughts? :)
Best of luck!

Darn! I was ready to vote for Jeffry's suggestion: “Bad Isn’t the New Good.” I'm sure it will be hard-hitting and insightful no matter what the title. Best of luck!

Ron,

I've got a feeling that you are somewhat relieved (feelings aren't facts, you know!) Working "for someone" is, for most, a necessary part of life. One year ago, I was "terminated" (their term, not mine) from a Houston CUSO. I realized quicker than I ever have that it "wasn't personal”, but it was still “disruptive” (my wife Jan uses another term). But you know, it was such a blessing. I don’t know that I would have ever left on my own. And those three years introduced me for the first time in my life to “credit unions”. Yea!

Now…a year later, I am about to have the “break-out” I need to honor a passion I have had for a decade (this “women’s market” thing I am always touting—you know, the 80% niche). It was also a year ago I started to reach out to the CU “stars of influence” (I won’t mention names but they start with letters like Denise and Shari...OOPS!). They have created the opportunity I have now and supported me incredibly. This is the year…I know it!

I’m glad you’ll be more “available”. Another passion I have is bringing forth this great (and “natural”) opportunity the CU’s have to “tell their story” via a proactive ADVOCACY model. You’re the man!...on that subject, Ron. So, in a weird way, I’ll just say “congratulations”.

Ron,

I have no doubt that you will land in the right place. I think credit unions need you.

Congrats on the book - I have a title....."Why you are wrong."

Cheers my friend,

@Jacqueline: Both :) and :( Would rather think of this as a jumping off point, then a starting over point.

@Robbie: That's too scary to contemplate. Can't see that happening.

@Gens: I'm thinking of outing you. And fyi, I don't think about retirement -- I dream about it. Ain't happening. I mean, I do have all the money I could ever need. I just don't have NEARLY ENOUGH for the wife and three daughters. :)

@Suzanne: #1 on Amazon? one more thing to dream about.

Aren't you old enough to start thinking about retirement?

;-)

Good luck Ron... Looking forward to hearing what comes next... Hopefully won't be along the lines of Robbie's idea... We've got enough problems as is with the CU's in this crazy country.

Before I go, I just thought of something...

"Ron Shevlin 2008.
Battle-Tested. Slightly Unbalanced. Ready to Nuke on Day One!"

Hi Ron,
Don't know what to think of this news: Are you :-) or :-( about it? Of course I do hope it's just another way of starting all over again, like we all do from time to time. And in that case I wish you all the best and the luck in finding the things you really want to do and in writing this very special book. I'm looking forward to it, that's for sure!
